The Enrolment Fee for 2011 for eligible students:
The tuition contribution is calculated by multiplying the total enrolment hours by the relevant hourly rate rounded to the nearest dollar then applying the minimum and maximum for the applicable course category.
Tuition Fees for Students - Fee Maintenance
The fee structure below, will not apply to fee mainenance students who were already enrolled and undertaking their courses before July 2009. These students will continue to pay fees and charges according to the January 2009 fee schedule, subject to indexation, and will continue to have access to the current concessions, until they complete their courses or otherwise end their enrolments. This arrangement ceases at the end of 2012 subject to a continuous enrolment and the course being offered at UB.

If you hold one of the following cards:
- Commonwealth Health Care Card
- Pensioner Concession Card
- Veteran's Gold Card
You will be charged no more than the minimum tuition fee for enrolments in courses in all categories (other than Skills Deepening). This concession also applies to the dependant spouse or dependent child of Commonwealth Health Care Card and Pensioner Concession Card holders who are listed on the card. The Concession rates are:
- $50.00 Foundations Skills
- $105.00 Skills Creation
- $58.00 Apprenticeships and Traineeships
- $187.50 Skills Building
- $187.50 Traineeship
*Students aged under 25 years - Diploma and Advance Diploma concession
As from 1st February 2011, Students eligible for Government Subsidised Training, aged under 25 years (on 1st January 2011) , with a valid concession card, undertaking Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications will be charged $100 per enrolment per calendar year for courses which have a 2011 commencement date of 1st February 2011 or later.
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you will be charged no more than the minimum tuition fee for all categories.
Note: The tuition contribution is calculated on a student's circumstances at the time of each enrolment.
Enrolment in a Government Subsidised Place is available to students who meet the following eligibility criteria:
Students must be an Australian Citizen or hold a Permanent Humanitian Visa, Permanent Residency Visa, A special Category Visa (sub-clause 444), a Temporary Protections Visa or be an East Timorese Asylum Seeker.
If a student meets the Australian Citizen/residency requirements and is:
- Under 20 years of age, or
- Seeking a Foundation Skills Course, or
- Is an Apprentice, or
- Is seeking a higher qualification than the highest qualification already held,
they will be eligible for a Government Subsidised Place.
*The following prior qualifications are not taken into account when determining eligibility:
- Qualification listed in the Foundation Skills Category
- Any VET certificate completed as part of a senior secondary qualification
- Qualifications with the title 'Course in…' which are not aligned to a specified level within the AQF
- Non-Australian qualifications, except where equivalency has been formally established with a qualification within the AQF
- Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (Intermediate)
A Materials Fee is payable for some courses. Students should contact the relevant School for details of the material fee payable for their course.
Incidentals such as excursions costs, may be payable for some
courses. Students should contact the School for further details
Text Books 2011
Most courses require text books to be purchased. This cost is in
addition to enrolment fees. Contact the relevant School for further details.
Invoicing of Fees
If fees are to be invoiced to an Employer or Agency, a written
authority from the Employer or Agency is required on enrolment
day.
Note: The concession rate will not apply when the student's tuition
contribution is being fully paid by a Commonwealth Government Agency or as part of a Commonwealth program or initiative.
Outstanding Debts
Any student who has an outstanding University debt will not be eligible to:
- enrol or re-enrol;
- receive a statement of results or academic transcript;
- graduate or receive an award of the University;
- use library services;
- use computer services.
Refunds
The following refunds policy applies.
It is the responsibility of the student to provide written advice
of withdrawal, by completing a Withdrawal form. These forms
are available from the Student Centre or the School and must be
signed by the student as well as a School representative. Advice of withdrawal made by telephone will not be accepted.
- Students who withdraw within four weeks of the scheduled commencement date of classes will receive a refund of fees paid less the relevant minimum fee. Note: the four week period is taken from the scheduled commencement date of classes.
- Students who do not attend class for four weeks, and do not complete a Withdrawal form within this period, will not receive a refund.
- Students who withdraw after four weeks of the scheduled
commencement date of classes will not receive a refund.
However, if a student is able to demonstrate that changed
circumstances have created extreme financial hardship, they may apply in writing to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and may receive a full or partial refund.
- Withdrawals must be in writing, or a signed Withdrawal form.
- Any refund will be payable by cheque within three weeks of the Withdrawal form being received at the Student Centre. Receipt for enrolment fees should accompany Withdrawal form.
