DEBUTANTE BALL
This event is known by many as “The Scottish Deb” and has been run by the Band for well over twenty years although it existed for decades before that. It introduces a new audience to our Scottish culture.

Our event is well known for its style, quality and uniqueness. The Ball is held every year in June. The friendly and expert dance tuition is provided by Shellie Ross, of “The Dance Studio” Ballarat.
Debutantes are presented through an arch of highland broadswords to a senior figure from the University of Ballarat - often the Vice Chancellor - and the Pipe Band President. Gentlemen partners wear cummerbunds of the Ancient Caledonian tartan as worn by the University of Ballarat Pipe Band.
Aside from a music by the Band itself, a quality contemporary band is always there to provide dance music into the night. In 2008, the Deb Ball was held at Doherty's Ballarat Lodge, Main Road Mount Pleasant.
