Accommodation
Information regarding accommodation can be obtained from Accommodation Services.

Application Fee
There is no application fee for International students who apply directly to the University of Ballarat.

Campus Location
The University of Ballarat is situated in Ballarat, an attractive, clean safe and friendly city of approximately 90,000 people. It is located in the Central Highlands of Victoria, approximately 1 hour and a half by freeway from Melbourne, Australia's second largest city. View the UB campus maps and City of Ballarat maps.

English Language

The University of Ballarat offers an English and Academic Preparation (EAP) program for international students to undertake. Further information regarding this program can be obtained from English Academic Program

Living Expenses
Living expenses are significantly lower than in the large Australian capital cities. Single students would normally require approximately AU$12,000 per year for living expenses. This covers housing, food, transport, clothing and some modest entertainment.

RPL/Credit Transfer
Applications for RPL/Credit Transfer will be processed if the necessary documentation is included with your application. If you wish to apply for RPL/Credit transfers you will need to include the syllabus and transcripts from the studies which you have completed.

Scholarships
Scholarships for International Students are not currently available through the University of Ballarat. Please check our web site for changes regarding the status of international scholarships. Further details can be found on the International Scholarships.

The International Student Centre offers the following support Services to international students:

  • Reorientation assistance prior to departure home

Tuition Fees
Full Fee Paying students will retain the annual tuition fee that applied to their year of commencement for the Cohort Duration.

Weather and Climate
Summers in Ballarat are warm to hot during the day but usually cool down as night. The average daytime temperature in summer ranges around the mid 20 degrees Celsius but may reach 35 degrees Celsius. Spring and autumn are usually mild and pleasant. Winter is cold and often wet. It may snow lightly once or twice a year. Daytime temperatures in winter may be between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius while at night the temperature may be as low as zero degrees.
