- What does UB Tec offer?
UB Tec offers practical experience in a variety of vocational areas using the specialised facilities at UB TAFE with teachers who offer a breadth of experience and expertise in their trade subject. Other practical experience is achieved by work placements in appropriate industries. > Industry Specific Courses
- What is VCAL (Victorian Certificate of
Applied Learning)?
VCAL gives hands-on learning in industry specific skills, work related skills, literacy and numeracy skills and personal development skills that are important for life and work. > VCAA/VCAL
- What is meant by a 'Hands-on' learning?
All courses at UB Tec are designed to provide each student with a personalised program with general knowledge and practical workshop skills in a range of trade areas.
- What are 'Work Related Skills?
Students are taught about the vocational and broader skills and qualities employers are seeking in their employees. UB Tec is committed to developing the following employability skills (as identified by the Business Council of Australia) in all of their students - communication, teamwork, problem solving, planning and organisation, self-management, initiative and enterprise, learning and technology.
- What are Work Placements?
The development of the link between industry and the UB Tec is considered to be a high priority at UB Tec. To facilitate this, the Industry & Community Liaison Officer at UB Tec performs an important role in developing these links and partnerships. One important outcome of these partnerships is the provision of structured work placements for UB Tec students which is part of their course requirements.
