  • Why would I attend UB Tec?

    Because the facilities provide a unique hands-on learning centre in an adult learning environment. This centre is located in the centre of Ballarat at the SMB Campus, University of Ballarat and provides access to existing TAFE specialised training facilities.

     

  • Why would I do VCAL instead of VCE?

    If you choose to do the VCAL instead of the VCE, you will gain practical experience and 'employability' skills, as well as the skills you will need to go onto further training in the workplace or at a TAFE.

     

  • What do I study?

    With the help of staff at UB Tec, you will develop a learning program that suits your particular needs and interests - Course Information

     

  • I have already started a VET certificate. Will this count towards my VCAL?

    Yes. You should speak with staff at UB Tec to work out how much of your prior study counts towards your VCAL and to plan the remainder of your VCAL learning program.

     

  • I have already done a VCE subject. Will this count towards the VCAL?

    Yes, if you have an 'S' result for the VCE unit it will count toward your VCAL. You should speak with staff at UB Tec to work out how much of your prior study counts towards your VCAL and to plan the remainder of your VCAL learning program.

     

  • How will I be assessed?

    A range of assessment methods are used by the teachers to show the successful completion of each module and unit studied.

     

  • What does work placement involve?

    This will take place in the second half of the year specifically for intermediate and senior students for a particular block of time, where you will be placed in an industry in your chosen vocational training area.

     

  • What employment opportunities will I have?

    The course at UB Tec develops general skills which increase your eligibility for trade training and employability. Graduates can go on to apprenticeships or pre-apprenticeships in any of the industry specific courses.

     

  • Can I apply?

    You are eligible if you have completed Year 10, are less than 20 years of age and have not completed year 12.

     

  • How do I apply?

    You will need to submit a UB Tec Application for Enrolment form

     

  • How will I be selected for this course?

    You will need to attend an interview at UB Tec to establish your suitability and eligibility.
